Liebherr shows first shot of 3,000t crawler

Liebherr has released the first image of its new 3,000t crawler crane, previously referred to as the ‘XXL’ and now officially known as the LR 13000.

Speaking to Cranes Today at Bauma, Liebherr spokesman Gerold Dobler said the giant crane was “more a project than a product”. The company is currently negotiating with customers. Dobler said that these discussions will determine how the finished crane will look. The crane is, basically, ready in the factory in Ehingen, and should be delivered at some point in 2011.

Carrier and turntable of Liebherr’s new LR 1300

Shown here is the crawler track assembly, turntable and part of the crane superstructure. Liebherr says the tracks are more than 3.5m-wide and 20m-long, and weigh around 210t each. The carrier is assembled from two 128t sections, each of which can be transported on a lowloader. The slewing ring and six drive units weigh 70t in total.

At Bauma, Liebherr showed the cranes 10m-high, 110t hook block, suspended from a new LR 1600/2-W.
